🔥🏟️Man Utd fans demand player to be sold after latest club announcement causes social media meltdown

Manchester United fans have called for one player to be allowed to leave the club after an announcement on social media.

United play their opening Premier League fixture of the season on Friday when they host Fulham at Old Trafford.

But they will do so without left-back Luke Shaw, who was not deemed fit enough to take on Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend.

United have announced that Shaw has in fact picked up a calf injury which will rule him out until at least the next international break in September.

A club statement reads: “Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the Premier League season due to a calf injury sustained at the start of pre-season training.

“He is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break.”

Shaw had only recently returned to training after reaching the Euro 2024 final with England.

He played 90 minutes in the final against Spain on July 13 – his first appearance for club or country since February due to a hamstring problem.

And although United fans are sympathetic for Shaw’s situation, and not forgetting the fact that he is one of the club’s key players when fit, some are now questioning whether his long-term future should be at United amid an already concerning lack of depth at left-back.

One wrote: “This is the last season of Luke Shaw at Manchester United unfortunately.”

A second said: “Luke Shaw is probably our best player after Bruno, but bloody hell that’s only beneficial if he’s fit.”

A third added: “While we support him and his rehabilitation, we should be planning to move on from him totally.”

And fourth stated: “Luke Shaw damn near had his leg amputated. Definitely time to move on – it’s a shame he can’t stay fit. It’s a miracle he’s even walking, let alone playing football.”

United are set to confirm the signing of full-back Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, who can play on both sides.

But after the departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, the Morocco international will also compete with Diogo Dalot on the right flank.

Behind Shaw, Tyrell Malacia remains unavailable as he works his way back to full fitness, leaving 17-year-old Harry Amass as the only other natural left-back
Manchester United fans are expressing concern over Luke Shaw’s persistent injury issues, especially after the club announced that he will miss the start of the Premier League season due to a calf injury. While many recognize Shaw as a key player when fit, there is growing frustration with his inability to maintain consistent fitness, with some fans calling for the club to plan for his departure.

Shaw’s latest injury compounds United’s left-back depth problems, as Tyrell Malacia is also recovering from injury, leaving 17-year-old Harry Amass as the only natural left-back. The signing of Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, who can play on both flanks, is seen as a solution, but with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure to West Ham, competition for the right-back spot with Diogo Dalot also limits options.

The fan sentiment ranges from support for Shaw’s rehabilitation to suggestions that the club should consider moving on from him, particularly due to his lengthy injury history and inability to consistently stay fit. This has sparked debate about the future of United’s left-back position and the need for reinforcements.
