CONFIRMED DONE DEAL:According to reports in the Spanish media, Manchester United have agreed to sign Miguel Gutierrez, who currently plays for Girona, for a reported fee of £30 million. The youngster will sign a five-year contract with United in the coming days as a replacement for injury-prone Luke Shaw.

Spanish media reports confirm that Manchester United have completed the signing of Miguel Gutierrez from Girona. The 22-year-old defender was previously a member of the Real Madrid team that won La Liga and the Champions League two years ago.

However, Gutierrez has had a notable impact at Girona, especially over the past two seasons under Michel’s management.

He is under contract with Girona until 2027 and earns approximately £280,000 annually. Notably, Real Madrid has a buy-back option for Gutierrez this summer, set at just 8 million euros, according to Cadena Ser.

The Express reports that Real Madrid plans to activate its buy-back clause and has already arranged to sell Gutierrez to Manchester United for £34 million. This move comes as Manchester United seeks a replacement for Luke Shaw.

Gutierrez has demonstrated his abilities both defensively and offensively, starting 35 league games last season, scoring 2 goals, providing 7 assists, and helping Girona achieve 12 clean sheets, which secured their spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Shaw, despite his dedication to Manchester United, has struggled with frequent injuries. Last season, under Erik ten Hag, Shaw made just 12 Premier League starts due to muscle issues.

Given Shaw’s injury concerns, Manchester United is keen to secure a reliable replacement, and Gutierrez fits the bill. However, by joining United, Gutierrez would miss out on Champions League football next season.

Manchester United has reportedly completed the signing of Miguel Gutierrez from Girona, with Real Madrid playing a key role in the transfer. According to Spanish media, Gutierrez, a 22-year-old left-back who previously won La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid, impressed significantly during his time at Girona under Michel’s management. Over the past two seasons, he became a crucial player, starting 35 league games last season, scoring 2 goals, and providing 7 assists. His defensive contributions were equally notable, helping Girona secure 12 clean sheets and a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Gutierrez’s contract with Girona runs until 2027, and he earns around £280,000 annually. However, Real Madrid retained a buy-back clause set at just 8 million euros, which they plan to activate this summer. The Express reports that Real Madrid has already arranged to sell Gutierrez to Manchester United for £34 million, as United looks for a replacement for the injury-prone Luke Shaw.

Luke Shaw’s persistent injury issues have limited his availability, making just 12 Premier League starts last season under Erik ten Hag due to muscle problems. This has prompted Manchester United to seek a more dependable left-back, and Gutierrez’s blend of defensive and offensive abilities makes him a strong candidate. However, Gutierrez would have to forgo Champions League football by joining Manchester United, a potential downside for the player.
