Aston Villa and Inter Milan Eye Swap Deal Amid Man United Interest

A transfer exchange between Aston Villa and Inter Milan has been proposed for either the upcoming January window or next summer. However, the deal may be thrown into uncertainty due to the player’s preference for another club.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Dutch international Denzel Dumfries turned down a move to Aston Villa in the summer, expressing a preference for Manchester United instead. While a move to Old Trafford didn’t materialize following Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure, Dumfries reportedly remains keen on joining the Red Devils rather than heading to Villa Park.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, are working on extending the 28-year-old right-back’s contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season. Despite his contract situation, Dumfries hasn’t had a prominent role this season, as Matteo Darmian is currently preferred by Inter’s manager. He made a brief appearance in Inter’s Champions League match against Manchester City, further fueling speculation about his future.

Despite Dumfries’ reluctance to join, Aston Villa are still very interested in the player, and the club could offer him a lucrative salary package along with a guaranteed starting position. Villa’s current right-back, Matty Cash, is sidelined due to injury, with Lamare Bogarde filling in for him. Additionally, Kosta Nedeljkovic and Ezri Konsa are also potential options for the position.

While Aston Villa are pursuing Dumfries, Inter Milan have their sights set on Villa’s star midfielder, Jacob Ramsey. There is speculation about a possible swap deal involving the two players, though any exchange would likely require additional financial negotiations. Ramsey, 23, is highly valued at Villa, with a contract that runs until 2027. Manager Unai Emery is a strong supporter of Ramsey, having fended off interest from Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich to keep him in January.

The situation remains fluid, and if Inter can’t secure Dumfries’ contract extension, he could walk away for free next summer, allowing Aston Villa to make their move without a swap deal. All eyes will be on January as these clubs navigate their transfer strategies.

The potential swap deal between Aston Villa and Inter Milan involving Denzel Dumfries and Jacob Ramsey presents an intriguing scenario for the upcoming January transfer window or next summer. Aston Villa are eager to bolster their right-back options with Dumfries, especially in light of Matty Cash’s injury. However, the deal faces complications due to Dumfries’ clear preference for a move to Manchester United. He reportedly rejected Villa in the summer, hoping for a switch to Old Trafford after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s departure, though that move did not materialize.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, are keen on securing Ramsey, Villa’s prized midfielder, who has attracted attention from top clubs but remains highly valued by Unai Emery. A potential swap deal might be complex, requiring further negotiations, especially as Dumfries’ contract runs down.

If Inter fail to extend Dumfries’ contract, Villa could attempt to sign him for free next summer. The January window will be pivotal in determining if these negotiations progress or if other clubs, particularly Manchester United, intervene in Dumfries’ transfer saga.
