Arsenal’s position in the race for the title is slipping away quickly. Despite being at the top on Christmas Day, Mikel Arteta’s team now finds themselves in fourth place as we welcome the New Year.

In the past five league games, Arsenal has lost three, and it’s becoming evident that changes are needed. Discussing the team’s issues on ESPN, Craig Burley pointed out that the way Kai Havertz is being used in the midfield isn’t effective, and he believes Arsenal won’t secure the league title if this continues.

Burley emphasized his concerns about Havertz’s role, stating, “I absolutely stand by my point about Havertz in the middle of the park. It’s not working as it should, and it will not lead them to a title. I think teams are starting to double up and neutralize the wide players. If you take Saka out of the game for long periods, that’s a problem.”

The ongoing debate about where Havertz should play remains divisive across the football community. One unresolved question lingers – what is his ideal position?

While officially occupying the same position as Granit Xhaka did for Arsenal, Havertz’s style of play differs significantly. He seems caught between being a central midfielder and an attacking player, resulting in a lack of fluidity in transitioning between defense and attack.

Havertz, a player known for dividing opinions, possesses qualities that are not easily noticeable. The challenge lies in determining whether he needs to improve his performance or if Arsenal’s system requires a significant change for them to contend for the Premier League title this season.
