Marcus Rashford recently became the first player from Manchester United to share his thoughts on Jadon Sancho’s temporary move back to Borussia Dortmund, expressing his support on Instagram.
Sancho’s return to Dortmund, on loan until the season’s end, happened without an option for United to buy him later. Reports suggest that United will cover a portion of Sancho’s salary, with plans to reassess his situation after the season, hoping his market value will rise.
For Sancho, this move marks the end of a nearly five-month absence from competitive football. He had been excluded from the United squad since September due to a training dispute with manager Erik ten Hag.
In a video shared by Dortmund’s social media, Sancho appeared delighted to be back, actively participating in training during the Bundesliga’s winter break. Notably, only two players, Rashford and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both friends of Sancho, ‘liked’ United’s announcement of his loan.
Sancho, posting a training photo on Instagram, expressed his joy at being back on the pitch. Rashford, a friend of Sancho, left a supportive comment with a heart emoji.
Other former United players, such as Jesse Lingard, Angel Gomes, DJ Buffonge, and Sancho’s England teammates, sent well-wishes. United’s attacking coach, Benni McCarthy, also conveyed good luck earlier in the week.
Sancho’s Instagram reset, deleting all photos, symbolizes a fresh start for the English winger as he aims to regain the form that once made him one of the best young players globally.
