Man Utd player ‘unhappy’ under Ruben Amorim and has ‘instructed his agents’ to find him a move away

Last week, former Sporting Clube de Portugal boss Ruben Amorim officially began his tenure as United boss after replacing Erik ten Hag.
The 39-year-old was chosen as the club’s new head coach after a dismal start to the 24/25 season led to the dismissal of Dutchman Ten Hag.

Ahead of his first match in charge this weekend, Amorim has been working with players who were not selected by their country for the latest international break.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, it has been claimed that one United star is unhappy at the club and wants to make a move away.

As reported by La Stampa, via Calcio Mercato, Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, who only joined United from Italian Seria A side Bologna this summer, is feeling unhappy at the club.

It has been suggested that the 23-year-old is considering a move away from United and his agents have been instructed to look for a new club.

The report added that Italian giants Juventus could be a possible destination with manager Thiago Motta said to be a fan of Zirkzee.

In addition, any deal that happens will likely be a loan deal, with Zirkzee open to the idea of leaving United on a temporary basis.

Zirkzee has struggled to find form after scoring on his Premier League debut against Fulham. So far in the 24/25 campaign, the Dutchman has only managed one goal and two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.

During his first interview with the club, Amorim explained what he wants the fans to see in his first match in charge, which is going to be against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Amorim said: “I think you will see an idea. You could like it or not, I don’t know, but you will see an idea.

“You will see a positioning. You will see something that we want to reach that kind of level. You will feel that.”

He added: “We have to know that it’s like two trainings before the first match. This is the best league in the world. But if I have to say something to you, [it’s that] you will see an idea. This I can guarantee.”

Rúben Amorim’s arrival at Manchester United marks a significant shift as the club aims to reset following a disappointing start to the 2024/25 season under Erik ten Hag. At 39, Amorim is renowned for his tactical approach and his success with Sporting Clube de Portugal, making him an intriguing choice to guide United back to form.

Amorim’s emphasis on implementing a clear “idea” and positioning for the team suggests he is focused on instilling a tactical identity quickly, even with limited preparation time before his debut against Ipswich Town. However, his immediate challenge extends beyond the pitch, with reports indicating unrest within the squad. Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, who joined from Bologna in the summer, is reportedly dissatisfied with his role at the club. Despite scoring on his Premier League debut, Zirkzee has struggled to make a consistent impact, managing just one goal and two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.

According to *La Stampa* via *Calcio Mercato*, Zirkzee has instructed his agents to explore a potential loan move, with Juventus emerging as a possible destination. Manager Thiago Motta is reportedly interested in the Dutch forward, and a temporary deal could suit all parties if Zirkzee’s form and morale do not improve under Amorim.

This situation highlights the challenges Amorim faces in managing both on-field tactics and player dynamics. As the January transfer window approaches, the new manager may need to make strategic decisions to balance squad harmony and performance while reinforcing his philosophy at United. The match against Ipswich will provide the first glimpse of Amorim’s vision and whether he can begin to stabilize the club’s turbulent season.
