Arsenal are set to smash Premier league transfer fee record as they are closing in on bonker deal [Personal terms agreed] – Transfermarket

Mikel Arteta is on track to become the highest-paid manager in Premier League history, thanks to a new contract in the works at Arsenal. Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared this update on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, revealing that negotiations are ongoing, with both sides optimistic about finalizing the agreement soon.

At 42, Arteta has won over the Arsenal leadership, especially after guiding the team to back-to-back second-place finishes. The most recent season saw Arsenal achieve their highest goals scored, most clean sheets, and the highest points total in a league season.

This development follows an earlier report by Football Insider indicating that Arteta is expected to sign a new contract at the Emirates before the next season starts.

Since taking charge of Arsenal in 2019, Arteta has been credited with a comprehensive overhaul of the club, both on and off the field. Initially, his management faced scrutiny after consecutive eighth-place finishes in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. However, steady progress under his leadership has transformed Arsenal into regular title contenders.

Arteta has managed 171 games for Arsenal, securing 103 wins, 27 draws, and 41 losses. He has reshaped the club’s culture with a bold vision for the future, supported by the owners in the transfer market. Football Insider also reported that Arsenal is eyeing three new signings, further demonstrating the club’s ambition.

Arteta’s growing reputation has made him a vital figure at Arsenal, with the board now considering him indispensable. His current contract, extended in 2021, is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season. However, a new deal is being prepared to extend his tenure further.

Currently, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola holds the title of the highest-paid Premier League manager, earning a reported £18.4 million per year. Arteta is expected to surpass his former colleague’s salary with this new contract.

In other news, there are rumors that Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale might make a surprising move to Liverpool.
