Arsenal is showing keen interest in signing Besiktas’ talented young player Semih Kilicsoy after his remarkable breakthrough season, as reported by Aksam.
Kilicsoy, an 18-year-old prodigy, emerged as a regular starter for Besiktas towards the end of last season. During this period, he managed to score 11 goals and provided three assists in the Turkish Super Lig. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, catching the eye of Arsenal, who are now actively pursuing his signature this summer.
However, acquiring Kilicsoy won’t be easy or cheap. Besiktas is reportedly seeking a record-breaking fee for the young talent, aiming for a sum higher than the £25.4 million that Bayern Munich paid to sign Sacha Boey in January.
Arsenal is in ongoing discussions with the Istanbul-based club, but negotiations over personal terms might be challenging since Kilicsoy is currently with the Turkish national team for Euro 2024.
Kilicsoy is seen as a potential future star due to his versatility in attacking positions. At the beginning of the season, he made several appearances as a right winger. However, after an unsuccessful stint in this role, he found his stride playing from the left wing and as a center-forward. The majority of his 15 goal contributions came in the latter half of the season.
Though still in the early stages of his career, Kilicsoy has already showcased exceptional dribbling skills and a knack for converting chances into goals. His shot-to-goal conversion rate in the Super Lig was nearly 20%, a remarkable figure for a player of his age.
Arsenal likely views Kilicsoy as a promising talent for the future. Despite this, they might hesitate to meet Besiktas’ steep asking price of £25.4 million. Instead, the club could propose an alternative deal, offering around £15 million upfront, with additional performance-based add-ons over time. This structured payment could make the transfer more palatable for Arsenal while still providing significant financial compensation to Besiktas based on Kilicsoy’s future success.
