A well-known club has announced that they will finalize the signing of Mason Greenwood.

Mason Greenwood, the young forward from Manchester United, moved to Spain on transfer deadline day through an initial season-long loan deal.

This came after Manchester United decided not to reintegrate him into the first team following the dropped allegations of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior. Since joining Getafe, Greenwood has contributed significantly, with seven goal involvements in just 13 appearances.
Greenwood’s current contract with Manchester United is set to expire in 2025, with an option to extend it by a year. Despite this, Manchester United was considering a free transfer for Greenwood before his temporary switch to Getafe.
Now, Getafe’s president, Ángel Torres, has indicated the club’s interest in making Greenwood’s stay permanent. Torres revealed that discussions with Manchester United are ongoing to explore possibilities for Greenwood’s future at Getafe.

Torres told reporters, as reported by The Athletic, “We have not talked about price. We have talked about looking at the situation and seeing what they propose because there has also been a change of shareholding there at Manchester [United].” He emphasized that while it is too early to discuss a permanent move or another loan, Getafe is satisfied with the current arrangement and Greenwood’s performances. “I believe a lot [in Greenwood].

From here, we continue to work periodically, we continue to meet with Manchester [United] to see if they are happy,” Torres added. He also noted that Manchester United is pleased with the treatment Greenwood has received from Getafe fans and the broader Spanish community.Torres expressed optimism about Greenwood’s development, noting that after not playing for 16 months, Greenwood is expected to find his rhythm by January or February and continue to provide value to the team.

According to 90min, Greenwood is enjoying his life in Spain and is happy with his current situation, which has also garnered attention from several top clubs.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid have all scouted Greenwood at various points, while Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are monitoring his progress as well.

Despite this interest from other clubs, a return to Manchester United remains a possibility. However, any final decision on Greenwood’s future will not be made until Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in Manchester United is formalized and the club’s new football department is appointed.
Mason Greenwood’s career has taken a significant turn since his move to Getafe on a season-long loan from Manchester United. The young forward, whose career was previously clouded by serious allegations, has made a notable impact in Spain, recording seven goal involvements in 13 appearances. This resurgence has sparked interest from several top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund.

Getafe’s president, Ángel Torres, has expressed a strong interest in making Greenwood’s stay permanent. Torres mentioned ongoing discussions with Manchester United to explore various options for Greenwood’s future. While no specific price has been discussed, the conversations are aimed at assessing mutual satisfaction with the current arrangement and Greenwood’s performances.

Torres highlighted that Greenwood, despite a lengthy period without competitive play, is expected to fully regain his form by early next year. Manchester United’s management is also reportedly pleased with how Greenwood has been received and supported by Getafe’s fans and the Spanish community.

However, Greenwood’s future remains uncertain and contingent on the completion of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in Manchester United and the subsequent restructuring of the club’s football department. Until then, both Manchester United and Greenwood are keeping their options open, with a permanent move to Getafe or interest from other top clubs both in play.
