According To Prominent Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano Manchester United Key Player Is Set To Undergo A Medical At West Ham After A Loan Deal Has Been Agreed For The £34m Defender.
West Ham are finalizing the details of a deal to sign highly-rated Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. The 24-year-old has agreed to personal terms with West Ham and is scheduled to undergo a medical today. The deal is structured as an initial loan move to the London Stadium, with West Ham having the option to buy Todibo for £34.2 million next summer.
Todibo’s current contract with Nice runs until June 2027, and the French club is keen to secure a transfer fee for him. Manchester United had expressed interest in the centre-back earlier this summer, but concerns about potentially breaching UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules—given that both United and Nice are part-owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS Group—prevented a deal from being finalized.
Juventus had also been pursuing Todibo for weeks, but no agreement was reached. Now, Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham are close to securing the services of the twice-capped France international.
West Ham are seeking a new centre-back after UAE club Shabab Al Ahli agreed to sign their captain, Kurt Zouma. Zouma is set to undergo a medical at the Emirati club. Todibo initially joined Nice on loan from Barcelona in January 2021, with the move becoming permanent later that year. He has made 119 appearances for Nice, scoring one goal.
