Arsenal has had a slow start in the summer transfer market. Although they finalized a £27 million deal for goalkeeper David Raya, his arrival was expected for the past year.

Nearly a month into the transfer window, Mikel Arteta’s team remains the same. No new players have been signed in positions like striker, midfielder, or defender, despite many expecting a lot of activity.

On the flip side, Arsenal is planning to let go of some players in various positions, including goal, defense, midfield, and attack. However, not much has happened yet, and their pre-season tour in America is approaching.

Even though things are quiet, there’s no need to worry. Arsenal is close to signing Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. There are some questions about whether they need him, but it’s a sign of some action.

Some players on the fringes of Arteta’s squad had minor roles in the Premier League last season. These players, who graduated from Arsenal’s youth academy, signed new contracts recently. However, they haven’t made significant impacts since 2022. Selling these players could be profitable for Arsenal, helping their financial situation and ensuring they comply with profitability and sustainability rules (PSRs).

Emile Smith Rowe is another player who might leave, with interest from clubs like Luton, Fulham, and West Ham. Nelson and Nketiah are also potential departures, with Crystal Palace and Fulham showing interest.

Arsenal is open to selling these players if they have enough cover in the squad. So far, nothing is finalized, but it looks like Arsenal prefers to trim their squad rather than make big signings.
