On Saturday morning, reports from Paraguay revealed that Diego León, a talented 17-year-old footballer, was on his way to England to finalize a move to Manchester United. The young player, who is currently owned by the Paraguayan club Cerro Porteño, caught the attention of Manchester United’s scouts several months ago.

Diego León’s journey to England was an important step in securing his future with the Red Devils. The plan was for him to undergo a medical examination, explore the club’s facilities, and complete all formalities necessary for the announcement of his signing. However, due to FIFA regulations, León cannot officially register as a Manchester United player until he turns 18 in April. Until then, he will remain a player for Cerro Porteño, continuing his development with his current club.

As he departed from Silvio Pettirossi International Airport on Saturday, a heartwarming moment took place. An elderly woman, a complete stranger to León, approached him and offered her blessings. She wished him success in his endeavors in Europe, leaving a lasting impression on the young footballer.

According to ABC Paraguay, León is expected to return to Paraguay on Wednesday. Upon his arrival, he will immediately rejoin the country’s U20 squad as they prepare for the South American Championship, set to take place in Venezuela.

This move to Manchester United marks an exciting chapter in León’s career, showcasing the incredible potential he possesses. Fans and football enthusiasts alike will be eager to see how he continues to grow both with his national team and eventually in Europe’s elite football scene.
