BREAKING: Player representatives is now in London Colney to seal move for Arsenal first signing today – agreement was reached last week, club official announcement tomorrow morning
Arsenal has received a significant advantage in the transfer market after Chelsea was ruled out of the running to sign one of Mikel Arteta’s top targets.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, and Edu, the club’s Director of Football, are actively seeking a new striker. This search comes as Arsenal is looking to offload their current forwards, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. The two players collectively managed to score only 14 goals during the 2023/24 season, highlighting the need for a more prolific striker.
One player who has caught Arsenal’s attention is Serhou Guirassy, a standout striker from VfB Stuttgart. Guirassy had an exceptional season, scoring 30 goals in just 30 appearances and contributing three assists. His impressive performance helped Stuttgart secure second place in the Bundesliga, finishing ahead of the powerhouse Bayern Munich.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Guirassy has decided to leave VfB Stuttgart. He is now considering offers from Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan. Notably, Chelsea and Bayern Munich were also interested in the Guinea international, but Guirassy appears to have excluded these clubs from his options, focusing instead on the other three.
What makes Guirassy particularly attractive to Arsenal is his release clause, which is set at a modest €20 million (£17 million). This clause represents a highly appealing opportunity for Arteta and Edu to strengthen their squad without a substantial financial outlay.
Mikel Arteta is undoubtedly eager for Guirassy to choose Arsenal. Last season, Kai Havertz led the line effectively for the Gunners. However, the backup options—Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah—did not provide the necessary impact when called upon to replace Havertz.
Signing Guirassy for £17 million would offer Arsenal a cost-effective solution to their scoring woes. This would not only enhance their attacking options but also allow the club to allocate more funds towards other key areas needing reinforcement.
Securing Serhou Guirassy could be a pivotal move for Arsenal. The striker’s proven goal-scoring ability and relatively low release clause make him an ideal target. If Guirassy opts to join Arsenal, it could turn out to be one of the best signings of the summer, providing the Gunners with the firepower they need to compete at the highest level.
