Brooklyn Beckham’s notable absence of comment following his father David’s knighthood investiture

Brooklyn Beckham has remained quiet after his father, David Beckham, was awarded a knighthood on Tuesday. The oldest child of the Beckham family, along with his spouse Nicola Peltz, has reportedly been at odds with relatives since early this year, with sources indicating the tension may trace back to his 2022 wedding in May.

Brooklyn made no mention of his dad’s major achievement, either publicly or on social platforms. This apparent oversight stood out more because the rest of the Beckhams gathered en masse to celebrate David’s honor. The ex-soccer star, aged 50, was accompanied by his devoted partner Victoria Beckham, his mom and dad Ted and Sandra, and his younger kids Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.

In a heartfelt message after the ceremony, the one-time Manchester United athlete paid tribute to his entire family: “To my beautiful children, who I am so proud of and I know this is a proud and inspiring day for them as well, they are our greatest joy in life and my inspiration every single day. I love you all so much… Finally, Mum, Dad, Victoria and to my Kiddies can you believe this… I love you all so much and Thank You @theroyalfamily.”

Romeo expressed his admiration by posting a picture from the event with the caption: “No one deserves this more than you, love you so much xxxCongrats Sir dad [laughing emoji] @davidbeckham,” while Cruz uploaded multiple images and clips from the occasion on Instagram.

David’s Knighthood Honor

The retired athlete earned his knighthood through King Charles’s birthday honors list, having been eligible for the title for 14 years. He was honored for his sporting achievements and philanthropic efforts, including over 100 appearances for England’s national team. His long-term dedication to charity focuses on enhancing living conditions for disadvantaged youth via UNICEF, a partnership he’s maintained for two decades.

Though long viewed as a likely candidate for knighthood, he had previously been awarded an OBE in 2003. Post-ceremony, he will officially be titled Sir David Beckham, allowing his wife Victoria to adopt the title Lady Victoria Beckham if she chooses.

Reflecting on the moving event, David shared: “Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. Off the pitch, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation. I’m so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I’m grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I’m immensely proud and it’s such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.”

The Beckham Family Rift

Rumors of discord emerged when Brooklyn and Nicola missed key family gatherings, such as David’s lavish 50th birthday party, Victoria’s 51st birthday events, and her Paris Fashion Week presentations.

The issues are thought to have begun before their 2022 nuptials, when Nicola allegedly opted out of a dress from Victoria’s fashion line in favor of a Valentino creation. Nicola later clarified in a Variety interview: “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”

The speculation grew as Brooklyn bypassed additional family milestones, including the launch of Victoria’s Netflix documentary series about her life. When questioned by the Daily Mail about his opinions on the three-part project, Brooklyn stayed silent and walked away from the interviewer after responding to prior queries.

The Beckhams also did not attend Brooklyn and Nicola’s vow renewal ceremony in August, held at the Peltz family’s property in Westchester County, New York.

No formal explanation for the conflict has surfaced, but an insider once told HELLO!: “From the minute Nicola came into the family, she hasn’t shown what Victoria would say is respect towards them.”

That said, another source indicated David and Victoria are eager to mend ties. “David has reached out already and will fly out to see Brooklyn if necessary. They are going to put this fire out; David has said that he wants the dust to settle and for everyone to talk when emotions have settled down. Brooklyn’s hurt them. It hurts them that he’s aired their dirty laundry, but David will not let this continue for much longer. He wants to put everyone in a room together – they need to iron this out now or nothing is going to change.”
