Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Addresses Jadon Sancho Transfer Speculation as Juventus Move Nears

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has commented on the growing speculation regarding Jadon Sancho’s potential move from Manchester United, with recent reports suggesting the winger is nearing a transfer to Juventus.

The link between Chelsea and Sancho has been prevalent, as the West London club seeks to bolster its squad. Despite their interest, Chelsea has faced challenges, including difficulties in offloading high-profile players like Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, resulting in a congested squad.

However, Juventus appears to be leading the chase for Sancho. The Italian giants are reportedly close to finalizing a loan deal with an obligation to buy the 24-year-old next summer. Sancho is believed to be enthusiastic about a fresh start in Serie A, preferring this move over a switch to Chelsea.

Maresca acknowledged Chelsea’s interest but made it clear that Sancho is not currently a Chelsea player. “If we can sign a player that can help us, for sure I would. Jadon is not our player. I know him very well. But he is not our player,” Maresca stated, leaving open the possibility while recognizing the complexities involved.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Sancho has been complicated by their struggle to offload Sterling. Discussions with Manchester United about a potential swap involving Sancho and Sterling have occurred, but Juventus’ swift action, particularly after offloading Federico Chiesa to Liverpool, has put them ahead in the race for the English winger.

With Sancho’s move to Juventus looking imminent, Chelsea will turn their attention to other transfer targets, with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney emerging as potential new additions.
