Chelsea to Make Late Bid for Alejandro Garnacho as New Price Emerges
Chelsea is planning to make a final offer for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho before the January transfer window closes. The winger has attracted interest from both Chelsea and Serie A club Napoli, with United open to reasonable offers for the 20-year-old.
The transfer window ends on February 3, so time is running out. Garnacho’s preferred destination is thought to be Stamford Bridge, as he wants to stay in the Premier League if he moves from Old Trafford.
Napoli is also still interested in Garnacho as they search for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain. However, reports suggest Chelsea is now ready to step up its efforts to sign the Argentina international after holding talks in recent days.
At this late stage, Manchester United’s asking price for Garnacho is reported to be around £80 million.
United has had to reconsider its position due to financial constraints, and they are close to completing a £25 million deal for Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. The club is also looking to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich to strengthen their attack, but they face competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa.
Garnacho has not always fit into Ruben Amorim’s system at Manchester United, but he has started in the last two games – wins over Rangers and Fulham.
“I’m happy to have Garnacho here,” Amorim told TNT Sports. “He’s improving a lot. He’s a young, talented player. Working with talented players is what drives coaches to improve the team.”
United is still deciding on its future moves, but Garnacho could be one of the key players to watch as the transfer deadline approaches.

£80 million is a big fee, but if Chelsea is serious about Garnacho, it’s not out of their spending range. Given United’s financial situation and their pursuit of reinforcements like Patrick Dorgu and Mathys Tel, selling Garnacho could make sense from a business standpoint.
However, Amorim’s comments suggest he values Garnacho, and the Argentine has been a key player in recent games. Letting him go to a rival like Chelsea would be a huge statement, especially since United is already struggling for attacking depth.
Do you think United should cash in, or would selling Garnacho be a mistake?
