Cole Palmer “made him look foolish” during their match yesterday, according to Roy Keane, who made the statement in a recent interview this morning. Keane was very critical of a Manchester United player.

Legendary United midfielder Keane, now a football pundit for Sky Sports, was not impressed with the Red Devils after their 1-1 draw against Enzo Maresca’s side and took issue with a number of incidents.
Keane was particularly angered by Martinez, insisting he was lucky to avoid a red card for a challenge on Palmer, while he also called out Diogo Dalot for a poor performance at Old Trafford.
Quizzed about the moment which could’ve seen Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team reduced to 10 players, Keane told Sky Sports: ‘He’s a lucky boy. Honestly.
‘He won’t be happy with Cole Palmer making a fool of him, it’s a great piece of skill. And it’s a nasty tackle.
‘He’s a lucky boy. He doesn’t catch him properly, it’s down the side of his leg. But if he got sent off I’d say no complaints.’
Fellow pundit and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard added: ‘I would say it’s a red card for intention. He does get proper contact on him. He knew he was late and said I’d leave a bit on you.’
Meanwhile, in his assessment of Dalot’s wasteful performance, Keane said: ‘You have to get hold of these lads. Hit the target, these are big chances.
‘These are top quality players missing open goals. Dalot missed a chance last week and people keep telling me he’s a good player.
‘Put the ball in the back of net, keep your manager in the job for another couple of weeks at least.’
Speaking generally about how United performed, Keane added: ‘[Incoming permanent manager] Ruben Amorim should have signed a longer contract.
‘There’s a long way back for this team. This is an average United team, all the stats back it up.
We are repeating ourselves, we don’t know what we are going to get from them – it’s hit and miss. This United team, boring, might be a bit strong.
‘At the end it was a bit more open, but really disappointed – it was so flat. From the managers point of view, this team is way off it.
‘A really disappointing performance. United are a bit average at everything and they are not special. The lack of goals is hard to believe.
Roy Keane, a legendary former Manchester United midfielder turned Sky Sports pundit, did not hold back his criticism following United’s recent 1-1 draw against Enzo Maresca’s team. Keane was vocal about his dissatisfaction with United’s performance, particularly singling out Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot.
Keane felt Martinez was fortunate to avoid a red card for his challenge on Cole Palmer, criticizing the defender’s reaction after Palmer outmaneuvered him with skill. He called the tackle “nasty” and noted that Martinez was “a lucky boy,” emphasizing that if Martinez had been sent off, there would have been “no complaints.”
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who was also on the panel, agreed with Keane, pointing out that Martinez showed intent in his challenge and had intended to make his presence felt, even if he did not make full contact.
Keane’s criticism didn’t stop with Martinez. He also called out Diogo Dalot for his recent lackluster performances, particularly for missing scoring chances, remarking, “Hit the target, these are big chances.” He was frustrated with Dalot’s recent misses, saying top players need to “put the ball in the back of the net” to support the team and the manager.
Keane extended his criticism to the entire United team, describing their performance as “flat” and expressing disappointment in their lack of consistency and impact. He went on to suggest that incoming manager Ruben Amorim has a major task ahead, implying United’s current level is “average” and that they lack a “special” edge in their play. The lack of goals, Keane noted, is “hard to believe” for a team of United’s caliber, as they continue to struggle for consistency.
