CONFIRMED: Arsenal first summer signing pictures in training today at london Colney with the rest of Arsenal squad – announcement coming up shortly

Last week, Arsenal announced their first new player of the summer, a young goalkeeper named Lucas Nygaard. He joined the club after leaving FC Nordsjaelland.

Although Nygaard is officially joining Arsenal’s under-21 team, he might get a chance to play with the first team during pre-season because the main goalkeepers, David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale, are still busy with Euro 2024.

Arsenal’s first pre-season game is less than four weeks away, and they’re heading to the United States in less than three weeks. There might be some other games scheduled before these as well.

Nygaard could play his first game for the under-21s on Saturday, July 13th, against Boreham Wood, even before the first team starts their matches.

Other players involved in pre-season training include former loan players like Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Omar Rekik, Brian Okonkwo, Mika Biereth, Charlie Patino, Zane Monlouis, Charles Sagoe Jr., and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.

Elian Quesada-Thorn was also seen in training, which suggests he has accepted a new contract offer from Arsenal, although there hasn’t been an official announcement yet.

Ethan Nwaneri, who is expected to play more with the first team next season, was also part of the training session.

These academy players, who started training early, might be in a good position to join the first team later this summer if needed by the coach, Mikel Arteta.

However, it’s important to note that some senior players have already been participating in less formal fitness training with Arteta recently.
