FeaturedArsenal planning to submit formal bid to sign Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak Newcastle

Arsenal are reportedly planning to submit a formal proposal to sign Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, as per Caught Offside.

After narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League in the last two seasons, the Gunners are second in the title race this campaign. Liverpool are currently at the top with 61 points from 26 games, sitting eight points ahead of Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, Arsenal have a game in hand so they can close the gap to only five points if they win the remaining game. The Reds have started showing signs of a dip in form recently as they have earned only five points in the last three games.

Their fixtures won’t get easier as they’ll travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City this weekend before facing off against Newcastle United in the Premier League next week.
Arsenal will have to continue to win games to catch Liverpool. But, achieving that won’t be easy, especially following Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz’s season-ending injury.

Isak to Arsenal

The North London club are reportedly planning to hire a new prolific striker next summer and have been linked with a few names in recent times with Alexander Isak seemingly the primary target.
Now, Caught Offside state that Arsenal are planning to make a formal proposal to sign the forward but Newcastle don’t want to let him leave and are looking to hand him a new contract with a salary hike to persuade him to stay at the club.

However, if the Magpies eventually failed to qualify for the Champions League they might be forced to cash-in on him as the player could look to leave to play in Europe’s elite club competition. In that case, they would accept a fee of around £91m.
However, Arsenal aren’t alone in this race as Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on hiring him. So, the North London club will have to defeat tough competition to seal the deal.

Isak has been in excellent form for Newcastle in recent campaigns so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they can eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a substantial bid to acquire Newcastle United’s forward Alexander Isak in the upcoming summer transfer window. This move comes in response to a series of injuries that have significantly impacted Arsenal’s attacking lineup.

Arsenal’s Injury Challenges

The Gunners have been hit hard by injuries to key forwards:

Kai Havertz: Suffered a severe hamstring injury during a training session in Dubai, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Gabriel Jesus: Sidelined with a knee ligament injury, also expected to miss the rest of the season.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli: Both recovering from hamstring issues, leaving their return dates uncertain.

In light of these setbacks, manager Mikel Arteta has been exploring alternative attacking options, including deploying midfielder Mikel Merino in a forward role. Merino notably scored twice in a recent match against Leicester City.

Pursuit of Alexander Isak

To address the depleted forward line, Arsenal are reportedly targeting Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker has been in impressive form for Newcastle, recording 19 goals and five assists in 26 appearances this season.

Newcastle United, aware of Arsenal’s interest, have set a valuation for Isak at approximately €100 million (£91 million). While they are keen to retain him, their ability to do so may hinge on securing Champions League qualification. Failure to do so could make them more open to negotiations.

Arsenal face competition from other top clubs, including Liverpool, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain, all reportedly monitoring Isak’s situation.

Despite the injury crisis, Arsenal remain focused on their Premier League campaign. Their upcoming fixtures include:
