Arsenal are reportedly considering a move to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star Pedro Neto this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The Gunners seem to be thinking about bringing in a new winger to strengthen their squad and have been linked to several players recently.
Nico Williams is one of their main targets, but they are also interested in Pedro Neto. Last season, the 24-year-old Neto had a good run, scoring two goals and providing nine assists in 20 Premier League games.
Arsenal have shown interest in Neto for a while and are often linked with him during transfer windows. However, they haven’t made a strong move to sign him yet. It’s unclear if things will be different this time.
TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal have already talked with Neto’s representatives about a possible transfer. Neto has expressed that he prefers a move to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
Although Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in Neto, Arsenal is leading the race because they can offer him Champions League football. TEAMtalk adds that Arsenal think Neto would be a great addition to their team, but they would need to pay around £50 million for him, which is quite expensive.
Neto is a flexible player who can play on either wing and even in the center-forward position if necessary. He is fast, strong, good with the ball, can dribble past defenders, create opportunities for teammates, and works hard when his team doesn’t have the ball.
Despite Neto’s talents and proven ability in the Premier League, he has had injury issues in recent years. Spending a large sum on him would be a risky move. Therefore, Arsenal might be better off looking at other options to strengthen their attack this summer.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal eventually decide to make a serious effort to sign him during this transfer window.
