Gary Neville has explained his reasons for doubting Arsenal’s chances of securing another Premier League title.

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville recently shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s title aspirations, expressing concern about their lack of creativity and confidence. During a post-match analysis on Sky Sports, Neville pointed out the subdued reaction from Arsenal players following their recent victory over Liverpool, suggesting it reflected a diminishing belief in their ability to win the title.

Neville echoed sentiments expressed by former Arsenal player Gael Clichy regarding the Gunners’ need to be more ruthless, especially in the attacking third. He contrasted Arsenal’s performance with that of Liverpool, noting the latter’s clinical edge in front of goal.

Initially optimistic about Arsenal’s title chances, Neville highlighted what he perceived as immature celebrations from the Gunners after their win over Liverpool. Despite a strong first-half performance and taking the lead through Bukayo Saka, Arsenal’s momentum was dampened by an own goal just before halftime.

Although Liverpool staged a spirited comeback in the second half, defensive errors allowed Arsenal to extend their lead through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. However, a red card for Ibrahima Konate marred the victory.

Neville, alongside fellow pundit Jamie Carragher, criticized Arsenal’s celebrations, expressing concerns about their killer instinct in crucial moments. While acknowledging Arsenal’s well-coached system and playing style, Neville emphasized their deficiency in converting chances, which he believes could prove costly as the season progresses.

He highlighted Liverpool’s attacking prowess, citing players like Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane as formidable threats that Arsenal may struggle to contain. Neville speculated that Arsenal’s inability to match Liverpool’s efficiency in front of goal could hinder their title challenge.

Regarding the celebrations, Neville tempered his criticism, acknowledging that while he no longer condemns teams for celebrating, he perceives a degree of immaturity in Arsenal’s reactions. However, he conceded that the relief of staying in the title race may have contributed to the exuberance displayed by the Arsenal players.
