Harry Maguire Shines in England’s 2-0 Victory Over Ireland

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire delivered a stellar performance as England triumphed 2-0 over Ireland in their opening Nations League group stage match.

England sealed the win with first-half goals from Declan Rice and Jack Grealish, securing their position at the top of the group.

Maguire, who missed Euro 2024 due to injury, was a standout in England’s four-man defense, playing alongside Levi Colwill, Marc Guehi, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. His presence was felt throughout his time on the pitch.

The United center-back made three clearances, two tackles, and registered two interceptions. His aerial prowess was unmatched, winning all four of his aerial duels. Additionally, Maguire completed 57 out of 67 passes, giving him a solid 85% pass accuracy. He was substituted in the 85th minute by John Stones.

Kobbie Mainoo, another Manchester United talent, also featured in the starting lineup, partnering Declan Rice in midfield. The 19-year-old Carrington graduate impressed once again, completing 92% of his passes and successfully completing two out of three dribbles. Mainoo was a force in duels as well, winning multiple ground and aerial challenges.
