‘Have to be really honest he’s the problem and he needs to leave immediately because I can’t keep playing like this’… Mauricio Pochettino shares what he’s ‘upset’ about at Chelsea
Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, recently shared his thoughts on how the season has unfolded for his team. While they did well in reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals by triumphing over Newcastle United, their position in the Premier League is not as impressive, currently standing at 10th place.
Beyond their success in the League Cup, Chelsea has faced challenges in the ongoing season. Pochettino acknowledged this when speaking to Sky Sports. Despite a few high points, such as a convincing 4-1 victory over rivals Tottenham Hotspur and a thrilling 4-4 draw with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, the overall performance has been below expectations.
Expressing his feelings, Pochettino stated, “We really wished to see ourselves in a better position on the league table today. I have to be honest; I am not happy about our current standing. I wouldn’t say I’m frustrated because we anticipated it would be tough, but the circumstances have not been in our favor.”
He went on to highlight the impact of injuries on their progress, explaining, “Injuries have slowed us down, hindering our desired progress. That’s why we find ourselves behind schedule in achieving our goals. I am confident, though, that we will catch up. We might be late, but we will show strong performances, win games, and secure the position we rightfully deserve.”
