Arsenal, under the management of Mikel Arteta, is on the verge of signing Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres in a deal valued at €90 million.

### Arsenal’s Quest for a Top Striker

According to a report from Leonino, Arsenal is nearing the acquisition of Viktor Gyokeres, the star forward from Sporting CP. Last season, Gyokeres demonstrated outstanding form, prompting Arsenal to negotiate terms with the Portuguese club.

### Arsenal’s Need for a New Number Nine

Arsenal has come close to winning the Premier League title in the past two seasons but has fallen short, losing to Manchester City. Manager Mikel Arteta believes that adding more quality to the squad is essential to surpass Pep Guardiola’s team.

Arteta is convinced that securing a world-class striker is key to bridging the gap. Frustrated by the inconsistent performance of his current forwards, Arteta is eager to bring in a new number nine, and Viktor Gyokeres has caught his eye. The Swedish forward’s impressive record makes him a prime candidate for Arsenal.

### Gyokeres’ Remarkable Season

Gyokeres joined Sporting CP last summer from Coventry City for €20 million. In his debut season, he was sensational, contributing to 58 goals by scoring 43 times in 50 appearances. His exceptional performance has not gone unnoticed, and Arsenal’s scouts believe he would be a perfect fit for their system.

### The Deal Between Arsenal and Sporting CP

Arsenal has been aggressively pursuing Gyokeres’ signature. Despite the striker having four years remaining on his contract and a €100 million release clause, Arsenal has managed to negotiate a deal for a lower initial fee.

The Gunners are set to sign Gyokeres for a total of €120 million, with €90 million paid upfront and an additional €30 million based on performance-related variables, including his appearances and contributions on the pitch.

Negotiations have progressed swiftly, and reports suggest that the deal could be finalized by the end of the month. This acquisition is expected to significantly bolster Arsenal’s attacking options as they aim to secure the Premier League title in the upcoming season.
