Arsenal has received some positive news in their attempt to sign Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven during this transfer window.

Bakayoko, a Belgian international, had an excellent 2023/24 season with PSV. He scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 48 games.

Because of his impressive performance, there is speculation that he is ready for a new challenge, with Arsenal being seen as the leading contender to sign him, even ahead of Liverpool.

PSV is willing to let Bakayoko go for £38 million. The 21-year-old has recently made comments that could motivate Arsenal to pursue him.

In an interview with Voetbal International, Bakayoko mentioned that he is not interested in joining mediocre clubs and has set high goals for himself.

He said he wants to join a team that competes strongly in the Champions League and fights for titles every season.

Bakayoko stated, “I exclude a lot of clubs. My ambitions are high and not with the clubs in the middle bracket. I am doing well here, so I will only exchange PSV for a club that plays for prizes.”

“I want to go to a club that can go as far as possible in the Champions League. A club that plays for the title every season and where I can improve every year.”

“It could be a good moment to make a transfer now, but that could also be the case next year.”

Arsenal now has more reason to consider signing Bakayoko. The team has finished second in the Premier League for the past two seasons, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City by just two points in the last campaign.

So far this summer, Arsenal has not signed any new outfield players, and fans are hoping for some new additions soon. Finding a new winger to support Bukayo Saka should be a priority.

Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao has been mentioned as a potential target for some time, but he seems more interested in joining Barcelona, who are currently negotiating with him.

In our opinion, Arsenal should focus on Bakayoko, who specializes as a right winger.

Bakayoko had 28 goal contributions last season and also showed other valuable skills. He successfully completed 2.8 dribbles per game and won five duels. His passing accuracy was 87 percent.

Signing Bakayoko would provide Arsenal with strong competition and depth for the right wing position, where the team has heavily relied on Saka without having a reliable backup.
