I told Arteta’s Arsenal that this is the Champions League but they thought it is WestHam and Burnley thinking they will score five goals’: Fc Porto coach Sergio Conceicao blast Arteta for His wrong tactics in their yesterday defeat

Porto’s head coach, Sergio Conceicao, has responded to Mikel Arteta’s comments regarding Porto’s approach during Arsenal’s Champions League defeat with a rebuttal of his own. Arteta had suggested that Porto showed ‘no intention of playing’ during the match, but Conceicao begs to differ.

The match at Estadio do Dragao seemed destined for a goalless draw until Porto seized an opportunity, capitalizing on a loose pass from Gabriel Martinelli. Galeno’s exquisite curled shot from outside the box found the net, leaving Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, helpless.

Arteta voiced his observations on Porto’s defensive tactics, highlighting Arsenal’s struggle to break through their opponent’s solid defensive setup. However, despite the setback, Arteta emphasized the team’s positive attitude and their determination to play their style of football.

Conceicao, in response, reframed Arteta’s comments as merely an opinion. He pointed out that both teams entered the game with the intention to win, each with their own strategies and approaches. Conceicao also touched upon Arteta’s football philosophy, which he likened to that of Pep Guardiola, emphasizing possession as a key tactic.

However, Conceicao asserted that possession statistics don’t always tell the full story. He argued that possession alone doesn’t guarantee success; rather, it’s about what a team does with the ball and how effectively they execute their strategy to score goals.

In essence, Conceicao defended Porto’s approach, suggesting that winning is not solely dependent on possession statistics but on the execution of a well-defined strategy tailored to the team’s strengths and the demands of the game.
