Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, believes that Alexander Isak, a key player for the team, is destined for great success, especially amid interest from Arsenal in the January transfer window. The financial struggles of Newcastle, with reported losses of £150 million, might lead to the necessity of selling some star players.

Arsenal, facing a need for a new striker, has expressed interest in Isak, considering their primary target, Ivan Toney, may not be a feasible option. Howe shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s interest in Isak during a press conference following Newcastle’s 3-2 loss to Manchester City, where Isak scored a goal reminiscent of Alan Shearer.

Howe praised Isak’s performance, stating that the goal showcased qualities akin to legendary striker Shearer. He expressed confidence in Isak’s potential, predicting that he could achieve remarkable things in his career. Despite dealing with injury troubles this season, Isak is on the path to full fitness, and his recent performances and goals indicate his versatile skills as a striker.

“He’s still getting back to 100 per cent fit; he is not totally there yet after his injury troubles this season. But the last two performances and the goals he has scored offer a glimpse into his capabilities. He’s an all-round striker in my opinion,” commented Howe.

In an interview with TNT Sports about Newcastle’s home defeat to Manchester City, Howe acknowledged the challenging second half of the match. Despite being a constant threat and having chances, the team faced difficulties, and City’s quality ultimately proved decisive. Howe recognized the world-class talent of Kevin De Bruyne, emphasizing the challenges posed by such high-caliber players in the game.
