Former footballer Thierry Henry recently shared his thoughts on who Arsenal should target in the transfer market. If they can’t secure a deal for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, Henry suggests they should consider a £60 million Premier League striker instead.

Arsenal, led by manager Mikel Arteta, has faced challenges in recent games, struggling to score goals and dropping points in their pursuit of the Premier League title. The injury to Gabriel Jesus against Liverpool has intensified their need for attacking reinforcements, leading to speculation about Ivan Toney moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Despite Brentford manager Thomas Frank’s firm stance that Toney will stay with the Bees this season, talkSPORT pundit Alan Brazil proposes an alternative: a £60 million Premier League striker.

During a talkSPORT breakfast show with Ally McCoist, Brazil focused on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s overturned red card against Crystal Palace and raised the question of whether Arsenal could pursue the Everton forward if the deal with Toney falls through.

Brazil expressed, “If they can’t get the boy from Brentford, if they can’t get Ivan, then would Everton sell Calvert-Lewin? Or are they just worried about his injury problems that he’s got? He’d finish, I think he’d score a lot of goals.”

However, acquiring Calvert-Lewin would pose a risk for Arsenal, considering his ongoing injury concerns. The Gunners would need assurance that the English striker could contribute consistently throughout the season before investing £60 million.

While Toney might demand a higher cost, Brazil suggests it would be a wise move for Arsenal, emphasizing that the former Newcastle United striker has the experience and capability to handle the pressure of consistent goal-scoring duties. Ultimately, the decision between the two options hinges on balancing the potential risk and reward for Arsenal’s attacking needs.
