Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic revealed that Jadon Sancho’s move from the German club to Manchester United was motivated by his desire to win the Champions League.
Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan from United during the January transfer window following a public disagreement with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, which had sidelined him since August. Back at Dortmund, Sancho regained the form that initially earned him his transfer to Old Trafford.
Despite his improved performance in the Bundesliga and Champions League, Sancho was not selected for the England squad, continuing a nearly three-year absence.
As Dortmund prepares for the Champions League final against Real Madrid at Wembley this weekend, Terzic underscored Sancho’s ambitions. “Jadon wants to prove that he can win the Champions League with us,” Terzic stated at a press conference.
“He seems very content with our team,” Terzic added. While he did not comment on Sancho’s aspirations with the England national team, he acknowledged Sancho’s dream of winning the Champions League, which he had hoped to achieve by moving to Manchester United.
“He left us a few years ago with the goal of being very successful and believed that move would help him win the Champions League. Now, he’s back and closer than ever to achieving it.”
Looking ahead to the final, Terzic stressed the importance of their mission. “We are competing against teams with the same mission of winning the Champions League. It’s a mission you either complete or fail. Our goal is to fulfill our dream.”
Terzic expressed confidence in Sancho’s resolve to win the Champions League trophy and assured the team’s support to help him achieve this dream.
“Hopefully, we can support him fully on Saturday, knowing he will give his utmost effort.” As the final nears, Sancho’s return to Dortmund from his struggles at Manchester United could potentially culminate in the realization of his Champions League dream. It seems like Jadon Sancho’s return to Dortmund has reignited his ambition to win the Champions League, and the team is fully behind him in achieving that goal. It’s a testament to his determination and the supportive environment at Dortmund.
