JUST IN: Man Utd submit £34m offer to sign Barcelona Defender – Report

Andreas Christensen is the most recent central defender to have his name brought up in relation to Manchester United.

Man Utd is reportedly offering 40 million euros (£34 million) to capture the Danish international from Barcelona, according to a Spanish outlet, Nacional.

Transfer: Man United press to complete a £50 million deal once contract is agreed upon – Report

The La Liga giants, according to the Catalan newspaper, are very interested in United’s offer because the player was enticed by a bosman last summer.

The legendary manager of Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, is reportedly not willing to sell the outstanding defender and views him as one of the team’s “non-transferable” players.

Before moving to Spain, Christensen was a hit in England with Chelsea. The 27-year-old won the League Cup, the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup with the Blues.

In the debut season at the Nou Camp, the 63-capped international won the Spanish Super Cup and the La Liga trophies.

He missed 11 league games due to fitness concerns but when fit, he was in top form. He started 22 games in the league for the Blaugrana and helped the team keep 13 clean sheets.

Christensen would be a quality signing if Erik ten Hag can somehow secure him but we are actually linked with a much better player in the form of Kim Min-Jae.

The Korean international was named the best defender in the Serie A and reports indicate he is close to moving to Old Trafford.
Andreas Christensen would indeed bring solid experience and composure to Manchester United’s backline. At €40 million (£34 million), he’d be a relatively cost-effective option considering his consistent performances for both Chelsea and Barcelona. However, Xavi’s stance of deeming him “non-transferable” makes a move challenging—unless Barcelona’s financial constraints force their hand, which isn’t unheard of.

That said, the potential signing of **Kim Min-Jae** would be an even bigger statement. The South Korean was a defensive rock in Napoli’s title-winning campaign and was rightly named Serie A’s best defender. His blend of physicality, anticipation, and distribution would significantly upgrade United’s backline. If United can beat Bayern Munich and other suitors to his signature, it would be a major coup.

With Raphael Varane likely departing and injury concerns over Lisandro Martínez, do you think United should go all in for Kim, or would Christensen be a more realistic and stable target given the circumstances?
