Liverpool dealt major blow as Mohamed Salah’s agent reveals injury is ‘more serious than first thought’ full details of injury revealed

Liverpool’s star player, Mohamed Salah, faced a setback during Egypt’s AFCON match against Ghana, where he had to leave the field due to a hamstring injury. Despite initial hopes for a quick recovery, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, shared on X that the injury is more severe than initially believed. According to Abbas, Salah will be out of action for an estimated 21 to 28 days.

In a statement, Abbas explained, ‘Mohammed’s injury is more serious than first thought and he will be out for 21-28 days, and not 2 games. His best chance at participating in the current AFCON is by undergoing intensive rehabilitation in the UK and rejoining the team as soon as he is fit.’

This unfortunate news places Salah’s participation in the remainder of AFCON in doubt, as the recovery timeline extends beyond the tournament dates. Although Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, expressed hope that Salah might still play in AFCON if Egypt progresses, Abbas’s announcement suggests otherwise.

Looking ahead, Salah’s absence may impact several upcoming Liverpool matches, including clashes with Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Burnley, Brentford, and Luton Town in various competitions. The timeframe for Salah’s return also raises questions about his availability for potential fixtures such as the Carabao Cup on January 24 and the FA Cup fourth-round tie on January 27.

In response to Salah’s injury, Klopp shared his plan for the forward to return to Liverpool for treatment. Klopp mentioned, ‘That’s the plan, if that’s already decided 100 per cent, I don’t know, but that’s the plan. However long he’s out, I think, probably everyone sees this, it makes sense that he does rehab with us or our people, that’s the plan. If that’s written in stone already, I don’t know.’

While Klopp remains optimistic about Salah’s return to the pitch, uncertainties linger about the exact duration of his recovery. Klopp also hinted that if Egypt advances to the AFCON final and Salah regains fitness, there might be a possibility of his participation.

In the meantime, fans and the Liverpool team await further updates on Salah’s condition, hoping for a speedy and complete recovery for the star forward.
