Liverpool is reportedly moving forward in talks to potentially sign Goncalo Inacio, a center-back from Sporting Lisbon, as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Sources told CaughtOffside that there is some uncertainty about Van Dijk’s future with Liverpool, making the club focus on getting a new central defender this summer.

Inacio, who has a release clause of €60 million, is their main target. There is hope that Sporting might agree to a lower fee.

The 22-year-old Portuguese player has also caught the eye of Manchester United and Arsenal, but Liverpool seems to be leading the race.

Besides Inacio, Liverpool is also looking at other defensive players. These include Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, and Willian Pacho from Eintracht Frankfurt.

In the midfield, the new manager Arne Slot is interested in Quinten Timber from Feyenoord and Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta. However, Juventus is also trying to sign Koopmeiners. Another player, Youssouf Fofana, was once on Liverpool’s list but now seems likely to join AC Milan.
