Man Utd Make Contact for ‘One of the Best Coaches in the World’

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Massimiliano Allegri if they choose to part ways with Erik ten Ha

Behind the scenes, the club is said to be gauging Allegri’s interest in the role, despite publicly backing Ten Hag this summer and extending his contract. Informal communication between Allegri and Manchester United is ongoing, though nothing official has been confirmed.

Allegri, who left Juventus at the end of last season, is exploring his options and has already turned down an opportunity to coach in the Saudi Pro League. Juventus let him go due to his behavior during the Coppa Italia final, which they won 1-0 against Atalanta. He was sent off for sarcastically applauding a referee’s decision and clashed with journalists post-match.

Ten Hag is under pressure after a poor start

Although Allegri is regarded as “one of the best coaches in the world,” his second stint at Juventus fell short of expectations, with the Coppa Italia being his only silverware in two seasons. During his first spell with the club from 2014 to 2019, Allegri enjoyed significant success, winning five consecutive Serie A titles, four Italian cups, and reaching two Champions League finals.

Though his name had briefly surfaced as a potential candidate for Manchester United earlier this year, the club’s leadership expressed confidence in Ten Hag, who is now in his third season. Recently, United’s chief executive, Omar Berrada, and sporting director, Dan Ashworth, both appointed by INEOS this summer, publicly voiced their support for the Dutchman.

Additionally, Manchester United are keeping a close eye on highly sought-after RB Salzburg midfielder Oscar Gloukh as a potential long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes, according to journalist Christoph Michel.
The 20-year-old Israeli playmaker is coming off a standout season in the Austrian Bundesliga, with seven goals and 15 assists in 29 appearances. Gloukh, who still has three years left on his current deal with Salzburg, joined the club in January 2021 from Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Last autumn, Gloukh attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool, all of whom were monitoring his progress in Austria.
Manchester United are reportedly considering Massimiliano Allegri as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag if the club’s poor form continues. Although the club has publicly backed Ten Hag, extending his contract and receiving support from key figures like Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth, informal discussions with Allegri are believed to be ongoing behind the scenes. Allegri, currently unattached after leaving Juventus last season, is exploring his next coaching role and has already declined an offer from the Saudi Pro League.

While Allegri enjoyed significant success in his first stint at Juventus, winning five Serie A titles and reaching two Champions League finals, his second spell with the club was less fruitful, securing only a Coppa Italia. His departure was marked by a controversial incident during the Coppa Italia final, leading to tensions with Juventus.

In addition to managerial considerations, Manchester United are reportedly tracking RB Salzburg midfielder Oscar Gloukh as a potential long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes. The 20-year-old Israeli playmaker had an impressive season in the Austrian Bundesliga, attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool. Gloukh’s creativity and vision make him a promising candidate for Manchester United’s future midfield plans.
