If a new deal cannot be finalized before the end of the year, United will trigger the extension to prevent Diallo from negotiating with other clubs in the January transfer window.

When asked about a new deal during preseason, he responded, “Yeah, why not? I’m very happy here. I think everyone is happy with me because I smile with everyone, good energy. Why not stay here all my life?”

United acquired the Ivorian from Serie A side Atalanta in October 2020 for a fee reported to be up to £37 million. Since joining, Diallo has made 26 appearances for United, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
