Man Utd to complete three transfers worth £75m TODAY, with medicals booked and late complication solved
Manchester United acted swiftly to secure deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro earlier in the transfer window. However, despite reaching personal agreements with players like Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, and Manuel Ugarte, the influx of new signings slowed down.
United has now withdrawn from pursuing PSG midfielder Ugarte after balking at the €60m asking price for the Uruguayan.
However, the double swoop on Bayern Munich for Mazraoui and De Ligt remained in play. Mazraoui’s deal hinged on first selling Wan-Bissaka.
A breakthrough in negotiations was achieved when Man Utd and West Ham agreed to a £15m transfer. Personal terms were also settled.
However, David Ornstein revealed late complications on the player’s end that emerged on Sunday night.
Nonetheless, the issue has since proven to be a minor one, with both Ornstein and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano subsequently confirming that the matter is now resolved. We have also been able to verify that the transfer is 100 percent agreed upon and ready to be completed.
As a result, Wan-Bissaka is now set to undergo a medical today (Monday) ahead of signing a five-year contract and becoming West Ham’s EIGHTH signing of the summer.
Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, Guido Rodriguez, Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville, and Niclas Fullkrug have already joined Julen Lopetegui’s squad.
Jean-Clair Todibo – a former Man Utd target – became signing No. 7 after Hammers sporting director Tim Steidten completed a stunning hijack of Juventus’ move.
Wan-Bissaka OUT, Mazraoui and De Ligt IN
Wan-Bissaka’s transfer will clear the way for 26-year-old Mazraoui to take over the right-back position.
Both he and De Ligt will undergo medicals today, and the pair were spotted arriving at a Munich airport on Monday morning ahead of flying to England.
Mazraoui’s deal is valued at €20m/£17.1m in total. The breakdown of the deal is €15m/£12.8m plus €5m/£4.2m in add-ons.
De Ligt’s deal is worth a heftier €50m/£42.7m in total. The breakdown of the 24-year-old center-back’s agreement is €45m/£38.5m plus €5m/£4.2m in add-ons.
Man Utd has also secured favorable payment terms in the Dutchman’s move. Romano confirmed that the €45m guaranteed fee will be paid in installments over three years.
Both De Ligt and Mazraoui have agreed to five-year deals that contain club options for sixth seasons.
Plenty more Man Utd moves planned
Once the three aforementioned deals are signed and sealed, there will still be plenty of moves left to complete at Old Trafford.
Sky Germany claimed that Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, and Scott McTominay have been given the green light to leave.
Furthermore, their reporter Florian Plettenberg stated that Man Utd is actually planning for the triple exit.
De Ligt’s arrival would offset the Lindelof sale, though a new central midfielder to partner Kobbie Mainoo would be required.
After shelving their pursuit of Ugarte, Man Utd has been linked with Youssouf Fofana (Monaco), Ederson (Atalanta), Richard Rios (Palmeiras), Adrien Rabiot (free agent), Sander Berge (Burnley), and Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona), among others.
We understand Berge has expressed interest in joining Man Utd, though whether the Red Devils will bid the £30m Burnley is holding out for remains to be seen.
Elsewhere, a third center-back arrival (following Yoro, De Ligt) could also be on the agenda after news that Yoro will miss a minimum of three months with a fractured metatarsal.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that free agent Mario Hermoso, 29, is on Man Utd’s radar. A short-term deal – potentially just for the 2024/25 season – for the former Atletico Madrid defender would make sense to cover Yoro’s injury absence.
Manchester United’s transfer activity has been a mix of swift movements and strategic decisions. Early in the window, the club successfully secured deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro. However, despite reaching personal agreements with Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, and Manuel Ugarte, progress slowed, particularly regarding Ugarte, as United pulled out of the deal due to PSG’s €60m asking price.
The club continued its pursuit of Mazraoui and De Ligt, with the former’s transfer contingent on selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka. After some late complications, Wan-Bissaka’s move to West Ham was finalized, allowing Manchester United to proceed with the €20m transfer of Mazraoui and the €50m acquisition of De Ligt. Both players are set to undergo medicals and sign five-year contracts, with De Ligt’s fee spread over three years.
With these signings, United is also preparing for more transfers, including potential exits for Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, and Scott McTominay. De Ligt’s arrival would mitigate Lindelof’s departure, but United still needs a central midfielder. After abandoning their pursuit of Ugarte, the club has been linked with several midfielders, including Youssouf Fofana, Ederson, Richard Rios, Adrien Rabiot, Sander Berge, and Frenkie de Jong.
Additionally, with Yoro sidelined for at least three months due to a fractured metatarsal, United is considering a short-term deal for free agent Mario Hermoso as defensive cover.
