Manchester United has scouted a 22-year-old La Liga talent valued at £34 million
Manchester United have scouted Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez as they aim to recruit a new left back this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
United has been busy in the transfer window, having finalized the signing of Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee while also working on deals for Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Paris Saint Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.
Mancity logo Manchester City is loading official content.Left back has been a difficult position for the Red Devils due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s
injuries, and United ended up bringing in Sergio Reguilon on loan for the first part of last season, which didn’t work out.
United are apparently scouting Girona’s Gutierrez, as well as Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Ben Chilwell.
Shaw had not played since February before representing England in the Euros, and United will be hoping he can put his injury problems behind him next season.
According to Romano, the Red Devils have scouted Gutierrez, who joined Girona from Real Madrid in 2022, but have yet to express an interest.Gutierrez is a player they’ve been looking at,” he told GIVEMESPORT.
“Remember that Real Madrid has a buy-back provision in place for Gutierrez, which allows them to retain control of the player if necessary. So there is that component to consider when it comes to Miguel Gutierrez, but I believe
Manchester United will decide later in the window which left-back they want to sign. For sure, that position is something that they want to cover this summer.
“The left back impressed for Girona as they qualified for the Champions League last season, making 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing nine assists.A long term replacement for Shaw is needed and if United can get the right player in this summer, it will be a big plus in what has been a problem area for them.Manchester United are actively scouting Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez as a potential solution to their left-back issues, following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. The club’s pursuit of a new left-back is part of a broader transfer strategy, which also includes the recent signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and ongoing efforts to secure Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich and Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that while United have shown interest in Gutierrez, they have not yet made an official move. Gutierrez, who joined Girona from Real Madrid in 2022, has impressed with his performances, helping Girona qualify for the Champions League last season. However, Real Madrid retains a buy-back clause for the player, adding a layer of complexity to any potential transfer.
United are also considering Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell as other options for the left-back position. The club aims to solidify this position to avoid the issues faced last season when they had to bring in Sergio Reguilon on loan, which did not yield the desired results.
United’s decision on which left-back to sign will likely be made later in the transfer window, with a focus on finding a long-term replacement for Shaw and ensuring the team’s defensive stability for the upcoming season .
