Manchester United listen to Van Nistelrooy and ‘pursue transfer’ for Euro 2024 prodigy.

Manchester United apparently followed the advise of new assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and signed Dutch phenom Xavi Simons.
The Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder shone for the Netherlands at Euro 2024, and his performances have piqued the interest of clubs around Europe.Simons, 21, scored 10 goals and assisted 15 times in 43 games on loan at RB Leipzig last season after PSG re-signed him from PSV Eindhoven for just £5 million. As previously reported, Van Nistelrooy is a major fan of Simons, who he managed at PSV, and has lobbied the Red Devils’ administration to make a bid for him.According to French source L’Equipe, Manchester United have agreed to the great striker’s request and have began ‘working on a contract’ to sign Simons, who is valued at £70 million. He is the second PSG player being tracked by Manchester United, with sporting director Dan Ashworth pushing hard to complete a transfer for midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and negotiations are well underway over a transfer fee.Simons would arguably be the more exciting addition, but it won’t be easy to get him as interest in the player ramps up.It sounds like Manchester United are indeed making moves to secure Xavi Simons, following the recommendation of Ruud van Nistelrooy. Simons, who impressed at Euro 2024 and had a successful loan spell at RB Leipzig, is valued highly in the market. Manchester United, under the guidance of sporting director Dan Ashworth, are also actively pursuing Manuel Ugarte. Both players could bring significant talent and depth to the squad, though competition for Simons is expected to be intense due to his rising profile and impressive performances.
