Manchester United Offer Sancho and €20M in Exchange for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong

Manchester United is reportedly ramping up efforts to secure the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, with a new proposal that includes €20 million plus Jadon Sancho. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with United eager to land their long-term target.

Sancho, who has struggled to find his form at Old Trafford, was left out of Erik ten Hag’s squad for United’s opening Premier League match against Fulham and did not feature in their recent loss to Brighton. Reports suggest that Sancho, dissatisfied with his current situation, has requested to leave the club. While earlier discussions with Paris Saint-Germain fell through, Juventus has emerged as a potential suitor, though financial constraints make a permanent transfer challenging.

United, however, appears determined to offload the winger. The club is reportedly asking for £40 million but would consider a loan deal if Juventus agrees to cover Sancho’s hefty £250,000 per week wages, along with a loan fee and an obligation to buy. Meanwhile, Barcelona has been evaluating a different proposal, where Sancho would be part of a swap deal for De Jong, alongside a €20 million payment.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, is said to be seriously considering the offer. The prospect of acquiring a player of Sancho’s caliber, who still possesses untapped potential, is appealing to both Deco and Barcelona’s new manager, Hansi Flick. Flick believes that Sancho could be a valuable addition to the team, given his versatility and potential to fit into Barcelona’s tactical setup.

However, the situation remains fluid, with Flick reportedly keen on retaining De Jong, despite pressure from Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, who might prefer the deal to alleviate the club’s financial issues and address their need for a new winger.

Erik ten Hag has commented on Sancho’s situation, stating that the winger needs to work hard to regain his place in the squad. As the transfer window deadline approaches, the coming days will be crucial for determining whether this deal materializes, potentially reshaping both clubs’ rosters for the upcoming season.Manchester United is intensifying its pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong by reportedly offering €20 million plus Jadon Sancho in a swap deal.
