Mason Greenwood Has Decided To Change His Nationality To Play For One Of The Top National Teams In International Competitions.Greenwood, who has only appeared once for England against Iceland in September 2020, is currently on loan at Getafe and is unlikely to be selected by Gareth Southgate for the Euro 2024 tournament in June.

After the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges against him in February 2023—charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm, all of which he denied—the 22-year-old chose to continue his career away from Manchester United and joined Getafe.

There have been reports over the past few years suggesting that the Jamaican Football Federation (JFF) would welcome Greenwood’s decision to represent Jamaica instead of England. Greenwood is eligible to play for Jamaica through his father, Andrew.

Manager Hallgrimsson confirmed Greenwood’s potential inclusion in the Jamaican team during a CONCACAF Nations League preview event in Dallas on Tuesday. He expressed his desire to have Greenwood on the team but emphasized that the final decision rests with the player himself.

Since joining Getafe in September, Greenwood has made a significant impact, contributing five assists and seven goals. His impressive performances have sparked rumors of a potential summer transfer to Barcelona.

United’s new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has indicated that the team will assess Greenwood’s future at the end of the season, considering his outstanding contributions at Getafe. Greenwood’s potential shift to represent Jamaica could provide him with new opportunities and experiences in international competitions. The decision ultimately lies with him, and if he chooses to embrace this change, it could open up a new chapter in his football career.
