Think back to January when Arsenal was in desperate need of a new striker. Their goal-scoring troubles were painfully obvious during a critical period that likely cost them the league title. Despite their best efforts, they struggled to find the back of the net.

In a December match against West Ham, Arsenal had a staggering 30 attempts on goal but failed to score, losing the game. The team was creating numerous chances, yet their inability to convert these opportunities into goals was glaring.

However, Arsenal’s fortunes improved in the second half of the season. They managed to keep pace with Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. Their performance against West Ham in a later match was a testament to this turnaround, as they scored six goals. Although Arsenal ultimately missed out on the league title, they ended the season as the second-highest scorers with 91 goals.

Given this improvement, the pressing need for a new striker may seem less urgent. But recent reports suggest that Arsenal is still in the market for a forward, and there’s some exciting news on that front.

Arsenal had initially set their sights on Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Sesko had a reasonably affordable release clause, and it seemed like a straightforward deal for Arsenal’s management team, led by Edu. However, Sesko is now expected to stay in Germany and sign a new contract with his current club.

With Sesko off the table, Arsenal has shifted their focus to Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting striker has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months, and now it appears that they are intensifying their efforts to secure his signature. Reports indicate that Gyokeres is ‘on the verge’ of joining Arsenal, which could be a significant boost for the team’s attacking options.
