One Manchester United star Is “desperate” to leave United After Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Harsh Comments

Manchester United could see a major squad overhaul this summer, and one player who is reportedly eager to leave is Antony. The Brazilian winger, currently on loan at Real Betis, is said to be desperate for a permanent move after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent harsh comments about some of United’s players.

United’s part-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has been open about his plans to reshape the squad, making it clear that some past signings haven’t lived up to expectations. In a recent interview, he specifically mentioned Antony, along with other signings like Casemiro, André Onana, and Jadon Sancho, as part of the club’s past mistakes.

“If you look at the players we are buying this summer, that we didn’t buy, we’re buying Antony, Casemiro, Onana, Højlund, and Sancho. These are all things from the past. Whether we like it or not, we’ve inherited those things and have to sort that out,” Ratcliffe stated.

Manchester United is poised for a significant squad overhaul this summer, with Brazilian winger Antony, currently on loan at Real Betis, reportedly seeking a permanent move. Antony joined Betis on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season, a move confirmed by both Manchester United and Real Betis in January.

During his loan spell, Antony has made a notable impact, recently scoring in Betis’ 4-0 victory over Vitoria in the Europa Conference League, advancing them to the quarterfinals. His performances have endeared him to the Betis faithful, and he is reportedly eager to make his stay permanent. However, Real Sociedad and Bayern Munich are also monitoring his situation, indicating potential competition for his signature.

Antony’s desire for a permanent move aligns with recent comments from Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has openly criticized certain high-profile signings, including Antony, Casemiro, André Onana, and Jadon Sancho, labeling them as “not good enough” and “overpaid.” Ratcliffe’s candid assessment suggests a willingness to address past transfer missteps as part of a broader strategy to revitalize the squad.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United faces critical decisions regarding player departures and acquisitions. Antony’s situation exemplifies the complexities involved in balancing player aspirations with the club’s strategic objectives. The outcome of these deliberations will significantly influence the team’s composition and performance in the upcoming season.
