“Playing for Real Madrid has been my lifelong dream. I love everything about the club and see it as the place where I want to develop my career. My future belongs there, and I can’t risk it by staying at Liverpool. I don’t see my future with Liverpool.”
“Playing for Real Madrid has been my lifelong dream. I love everything about the club and see it as the place where I want to develop my career. My future belongs there, and I can’t risk it by staying at Liverpool. I don’t see my future with Liverpool.”
Liverpool fans were worried earlier this week after hearing rumors that Trent Alexander-Arnold might be thinking about moving to Real Madrid. The rumors suggested that the LaLiga champions had made contact with him.
The rumors grew stronger when Christian Falk’s claims were backed up by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney. Delaney suggested that Jude Bellingham, a close friend of Alexander-Arnold, could convince him to join Real Madrid next year.
However, Ben Jacobs has given Liverpool fans some hope. He mentioned that Alexander-Arnold is set to have discussions with Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot.
According to Jacobs, Slot already has plans for how to fit Alexander-Arnold into the team. Slot wants him to be part of the leadership group, which will also help in negotiating a new contract for him.
Jacobs explained, “Trent Alexander-Arnold will have talks with Arne Slot. The Liverpool manager has already decided where he will play and wants him in the leadership team. This will help with new contract discussions.”
Slot is expected to reveal more details about Trent’s role after their face-to-face meeting, but he has not said much about it yet.
Liverpool is not worried about Real Madrid’s interest and is not planning for Alexander-Arnold to leave. At this stage, Real Madrid is not actively trying to sign him.
With all these different reports, it’s hard to tell what will happen with Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool. But it’s clear that Slot wants to keep him in the leadership group started by former manager Jurgen Klopp.
Alexander-Arnold and Slot will have detailed discussions once he returns from his holiday after the Euro 2024 tournament.
Some fans might worry about him leaving since he is in the last year of his contract, and Bellingham might try to persuade him to move. But there should still be enough time to sort everything out before the year ends.
With other Liverpool leaders like Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, and Alisson Becker now in their 30s, Slot will likely rely on Trent to become a key leader for the team in the long term.
Alexander-Arnold will be back from his break in early August to talk with Slot. Hopefully, they will soon agree on a new deal that keeps him at Liverpool, the club he has been with since he was a child, for several more years.
