PSG accepted shock offer from Premier League club for Kylian Mbappe before Real Madrid move
Paris Saint Germain reportedly accepted a bid from a Premier League club for Kylian Mbappe before the Frenchman’s move to Real Madrid.
After months of speculation, it was confirmed this summer that French superstar Kylian Mbappé had left PSG for Real Madrid.
Following the confirmation of his move, the 25-year-old shared his excitement on social media, stating: “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams, Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”
Mbappé made his competitive debut for Los Blancos earlier in the week, scoring in a 2-0 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final.
However, his transfer could have taken a different path. It was reported in the summer of 2023 that PSG had accepted bids from Premier League clubs for Mbappé. Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade revealed on social media: “Direct order from Qatar: Mbappé, if he stays at PSG, won’t play even a minute. The French club has already accepted at least two offers for the striker, one from the Premier League and the other from Al Hilal, but there was no agreement between all parties.”
Previously, Mbappé had been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal. At his presentation in Madrid, Mbappé expressed his gratitude, saying: “I want to thank President Florentino Pérez first. He believed in me from the beginning. Many things happened, but I want to express my thanks.
I also want to thank everyone who worked to make this move possible. I know it was challenging, but now I’m here as a Real Madrid player.”
He added: “Since I was a child, my dream has been to play here. Being at this club means a lot to me. Now, I aim to achieve another dream: to reach the level of this club, the best in the world. I can promise that I will give everything for this club and this badge.” Kylian Mbappé’s long-anticipated move to Real Madrid was finalized this summer, marking the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for the French superstar. Despite strong interest from several Premier League clubs and even Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, Mbappé chose to join the Spanish giants, Real Madrid. The transfer saga saw PSG accept bids from a Premier League club and Al Hilal, but the lack of agreement on personal terms meant Mbappé ultimately only had his sights set on Madrid.
During his presentation at Real Madrid, Mbappé expressed deep gratitude to President Florentino Pérez and others who played a role in his transfer. He described the move as a dream come true and committed to giving his all for the club. Mbappé has already made an impact, scoring in his competitive debut during Real Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta.
The summer of 2023 was filled with speculation about Mbappé’s future, particularly after reports surfaced that PSG would sideline him if he did not renew his contract or leave. With offers from Premier League clubs reportedly on the table, Mbappé’s decision to hold out for Real Madrid underscores his long-held desire to play for Los Blancos.
