Real Madrid have decided their top targets for next summer and it will make them the most frightening team in world football

Real Madrid are plotting a move for not just one, but two big-name players in 2025 as they continue to build one of the most feared teams in football.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is reportedly going all out to sign one of the world’s top defensive midfielders. Pérez has directed his recruitment team to make every effort to secure Manchester City’s Rodri next summer, according to Football Transfers.
The 28-year-old, who has three years left on his contract, is believed to be interested in returning to Spain, and this possibility is being taken seriously. However, Manchester City are prepared to offer Rodri a significant pay rise to retain him, given his crucial role in Pep Guardiola’s team.

In addition to Rodri, Real Madrid is also targeting Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz for a 2025 transfer. Wirtz played a key role in Xabi Alonso’s side’s unbeaten Bundesliga season last year and was named Player of the Season with 11 goals and 12 assists. The 21-year-old, who also impressed at Euro 2024, is a target for other top clubs, including Bayern Munich. Real Madrid will pursue Wirtz if the opportunity arises, with Relevo reporting that they are well-positioned to make a move for him.

This summer, Kylian Mbappé was the marquee signing for Florentino Pérez.

At his transfer presentation at the Bernabéu, Mbappé expressed his gratitude, saying, “I want to thank President Florentino Pérez first. He believed in me from day one. A lot has happened, but I want to extend my thanks to everyone who made this move possible. I know it was challenging, but now I’m here, and I’m a Real Madrid player.Since I was a child, I dreamed of playing here. Being here means a great deal to me. Now, my goal is to match the level of this club, the best in the world. I can promise one thing: I will give everything for this club and this badge.”
Real Madrid is reportedly planning a bold move for two high-profile players in 2025 to further strengthen their squad. Under the direction of President Florentino Pérez, the club is eyeing Manchester City’s Rodri, one of the world’s top defensive midfielders, and Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, a highly-rated young talent.

Rodri, currently 28, has three years remaining on his Manchester City contract. While he is reportedly interested in a potential return to Spain, Manchester City is expected to counter Real Madrid’s interest by offering him a significant pay raise, recognizing his importance to Pep Guardiola’s team. Pérez, however, is keen on bringing Rodri to Madrid, emphasizing the Spanish midfielder’s defensive capabilities and tactical acumen.

Alongside Rodri, Real Madrid is also targeting Florian Wirtz, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder who shone last season with Bayer Leverkusen under the management of Xabi Alonso. Wirtz contributed significantly to Leverkusen’s unbeaten Bundesliga season, earning the Player of the Season title with 11 goals and 12 assists. His impressive performances at Euro 2024 have further increased his desirability among top European clubs, including Bayern Munich. Real Madrid is reportedly well-positioned to pursue Wirtz, should the opportunity arise.

These potential moves follow the signing of Kylian Mbappé, who was Real Madrid’s marquee acquisition this summer. At his presentation at the Santiago Bernabéu, Mbappé expressed his deep gratitude to Pérez and the club, stating his lifelong dream of playing for Real Madrid and his commitment to giving everything for the team. This reflects the club’s ambition to build a team that can dominate both domestically and in Europe.
