Real Madrid ‘set their sights’ on stunning raid of Manchester United for player they are ‘big fans’ of

Real Madrid have turned their attentions to signing a Manchester United star to strengthen one of their key positions if a move for a Liverpool star does not come to fruition.
Real Madrid is arguably the top team in Europe right now, boasting a wealth of talent after winning both La Liga and the Champions League last season.

This summer, striker Kylian Mbappe joined the club, making his long-anticipated move to Madrid on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, where he signed a five-year contract with Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

One position that needs addressing soon is right-back, where Ancelotti currently relies on Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez. However, both players are aging—Carvajal is 32 and Vazquez is a year older—so younger options are needed.

At the top of Real’s wishlist is Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future at Anfield is uncertain as his contract runs until the summer of 2025. While he might sign a new deal with Liverpool, the prospect of joining Real Madrid is likely to be enticing.
While Trent Alexander-Arnold tops Real Madrid’s wishlist, the club has a backup plan in case that transfer falls through.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real is considering Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot as an alternative option. Dalot has become a key player under Erik ten Hag since joining United in 2018 and has scored six goals in 165 appearances across all competitions.

At just 25, Dalot offers youth, solid performances, and valuable experience, making him an appealing target for Real. His contract with United extends until summer 2028, with an option for an additional year, giving the club leverage in negotiations. Nonetheless, a move to Real could be tempting for the Portuguese international.

Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot as a potential alternative if their pursuit of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold doesn’t materialize. Dalot, who has become a crucial figure under Erik ten Hag, has proven his value with consistent performances. While Real Madrid’s right-back position is currently held by Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, their advancing age has prompted the search for younger reinforcements. Dalot, at 25, with a contract lasting until 2028, offers an appealing mix of youth and experience.
