Real Madrid set to finalise signing of world-class player on free transfer in January

Real Madrid are said to be edging ever closer to completing yet another world-class signing.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team has added stars like Endrick and Kylian Mbappe this summer in their pursuit of European and global supremacy.

Having won La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last season, Real Madrid is aiming for further success as the new campaign begins.

With England’s Jude Bellingham and Brazilian talents Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr also in the squad, it’s hard to see how Real Madrid could be stopped this season.

The situation may improve further, as reports suggest that Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies could join the club in January under a pre-contract agreement.

This move would see Davies officially become a Real Madrid player in the summer of 2025, ahead of the 2025/26 season in Spain.

Davies has long been a target for Real Madrid and will be transferring from Germany once his current contract ends.

Although Real Madrid officials wanted to sign him this summer, Bayern’s high asking price made it unfeasible.

Davies is expected to create strong competition for Ferland Mendy, who has been impressive since joining from Lyon in 2019.

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has been notably vocal about Alphonso Davies’ contract situation at the Allianz Arena.

In 2023, Eberl informed Sport Bild that significant offers had been extended to the Canadian international. He remarked, “The negotiations have been ongoing for a while, but they stalled last summer. We are addressing the issue. I can confirm that we made Alphonso a very concrete and generous offer. At some point, one has to make a decision.”

Davies, who joined Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018, has won the UEFA Champions League in 2020 and five Bundesliga titles during his tenure in Germany.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is reportedly close to finalizing another high-profile signing. Carlo Ancelotti’s team has already added notable players like Endrick and Kylian Mbappe this summer, as they aim for continued European and global success. With the recent addition of Jude Bellingham and Brazilian stars Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, it’s hard to see who could challenge Real Madrid this season.

Further strengthening their squad, Real Madrid is expected to sign Davies in January under a pre-contract agreement, making him officially part of the team for the 2025/26 season. Although Real Madrid tried to secure Davies this summer, Bayern Munich’s asking price was too high. Davies is anticipated to provide strong competition for Ferland Mendy, who has been impressive since his transfer from Lyon in 2019.
Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alphonso Davies reflects their ongoing ambition to maintain dominance in European and global football. With the addition of stars like Endrick, Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr, Real Madrid is assembling a formidable squad. The expected arrival of Davies in the summer of 2025, following a pre-contract agreement in January, will further bolster their defense. His signing will indeed intensify competition for the left-back position with Ferland Mendy. Bayern Munich’s high asking price this summer made the deal unfeasible, but Real Madrid’s patience and strategic planning highlight their commitment to long-term success.
