REMIER LEAGUE STAR IS ‘KEEN’ TO JOIN MAN UTD BUT ASKING PRICE COULD BE AN ISSUE
One of the most exciting talents in the Premier League is ‘keen’ to join Manchester United, but there could be a significant sticking point in negotiations.
With the INEOS era well under way at Old Trafford, Sir Jim Ratcliffe – overseeing football operations – and his team of executives are set to conduct a squad overhaul this summer. Now that it looks as though Erik ten Hag will remain in his post as manager, attentions can turn to providing the Dutchman with new talents for next season.
United want to strengthen in several areas including central defence and midfield, and their cause could be helped by the eagerness of one transfer target to join them.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is “keen” to join United this summer.
Branthwaite enjoyed a breakout campaign with Sean Dyche’s side, and was included in the provision England squad for Euro 2024.
Although the 22-year-old was cut from the final squad, United still regard him as one of the best young centre-backs around.
Though United are not as an attractive proposition as they once were – there will be no Champions League football at Old Trafford next season – Branthwaite still wants to make the move.
“I would keep his name in the list of Manchester United, waiting to see what they decided to do – because the player is keen on the move to Manchester United. Personal terms are not an issue at all,” Romano said.
“So Manchester United know the player is open to joining them, even without Champions League football, but it depends on the clubs.”
The move hinges on the two clubs agreeing a transfer fee.
United have made no secret of their interest in Branthwaite, with Everton reportedly rejecting an opening bid of £35 million for the player earlier this month.
Last summer, after an internal investigation, it was decided that Greenwood would continue his career away from Old Trafford.
Greenwood was the subject of an investigation by United after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case against him for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control
On transfer deadline day, the forward completed a loan move to Spanish La Liga side Getafe.
During the 23/24 season, Greenwood managed 10 goals and six assists in 36 matches across all competitions for Getafe.
With the season over, Greenwood’s future is now being talked about again.
On Thursday morning, it was reported by The Athletic that Marseille have entered the race to sign the 22-year-old.

One of the exciting prospects linked to the club is Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. According to Fabrizio Romano, Branthwaite is eager to join United despite their lack of Champions League football next season, and personal terms are not an issue. However, the transfer hinges on Manchester United and Everton agreeing on a fee, with an initial £35 million bid already rejected by Everton.
