Remove him from my squad now…We often lose Whenever he starts and I’m already tired of him”: Manchester United’s owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has named ONE who must be sold this summer

Ruben Amorim has told Kobbie Mainoo he still has room for improvement as the Manchester United midfielder prepares to make his comeback from injury.

Mainoo has been included in United’s squad for the Europa League quarter-final clash with Lyon in France on Thursday night following a nine-week absence, although Amorim says he will be careful with the teenager.

But United’s head coach believes he owes it to Mainoo to challenge him to become a better player and find his best position despite already being an established England international.
We need to help him,’ said Amorim. ‘Casemiro is playing better because we understand better the way Casemiro can play. I think we can do that with Kobbie because he has a lot of qualities. He is really good on the ball but also near the opponent’s box. We will try to manage all that and find the right space for a player like Kobbie.

‘I think that is also a little bit the problem. When I see Kobbie Mainoo, I see a lot of talent but in the way I see it – I could be wrong, that is for sure – I see some things that Kobbie Mainoo has to improve.

‘The pace during the game, he has qualities we can use, in build-up he needs to improve. Near the box he has a lot of talent. That’s why he did a very good game in the Europa League in that position.

When I see Kobbie Mainoo, I see not as a full player in the moment because he’s 19. If I say to Kobbie, ‘no, you are done, you are the final player’, I am not helping Kobbie.’

On keeping Mainoo fit, Amorim added: ‘In this moment we have to be careful with Kobbie. He had some games out so we have to be careful with his fitness. We are really happy to have more options and an option like Kobbie Mainoo with the quality that he has.

We are really pleased to have kobbie Mainoo but we have to be very careful,we need kobbie fit and fresh
Ruben Amorim’s comments about Kobbie Mainoo strike a thoughtful balance between praise and development. Here’s a quick summary of his key points:

– **Mainoo is back in the squad** for Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final against Lyon after a **nine-week injury absence**, but Amorim plans to manage his minutes carefully.
– Despite Mainoo being an **England international at just 19**, Amorim sees **room for improvement**, especially in:
– **Game tempo and intensity**
– **Build-up play**
– **Finding his best role on the pitch**, noting Mainoo’s potential near the opponent’s box.
– Amorim emphasized the importance of **not treating Mainoo as a “finished product”**, stating that pushing him to improve is key to helping him reach his full potential.
– On fitness, he said: **“We need Kobbie fit and fresh”**, highlighting the club’s caution in easing him back into action.

It’s clear Amorim rates Mainoo highly but is taking a long-term, developmental view to ensure he becomes a top-class midfielder. Would you like a deeper analysis of how Mainoo fits into Amorim’s tactical setup?
