‘Second chance for Ramsdale…?’ David Raya finally reveals what Mikel Arteta said to him after a huge Arsenal error in North London Derby and against Bournemouth that could change the goalkeepers faith at Arsenal next season

After Arsenal secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby, David Raya opened up about a heart-to-heart moment with Mikel Arteta at full time.

The Gunners were in command with a 3-0 lead in the first half, courtesy of an own goal by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and goals from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz. However, Raya’s mistake in gifting the ball to Cristian Romero allowed Spurs to claw back into the game just after the hour mark. Despite Son Heung-min’s late penalty adding tension, Arsenal managed to cling onto their lead, securing three vital points in the Premier League race.

Arteta’s visible embrace with Raya after the final whistle spoke volumes. In his post-match conference, Arteta acknowledged the error but praised Raya’s resilience, labeling him as still the team’s number one. He commended Raya’s mental strength and his stellar performance in the game’s closing stages.

Raya, addressing reporters, shared Arteta’s focus on his character and mental fortitude post-mistake. He admitted the error and credited Tottenham’s pressing game for it. However, he emphasized his determination to move past it and contribute positively to the team’s efforts, which he displayed in the game’s final stretch.

With Arsenal now leading the Premier League by a point with three games left, the title race remains intense, especially with Manchester City having a game in hand. City are still favored to clinch their fourth consecutive title and fifth in seven years.
