This is what Amorim should tell him. He should come and replace the other player that left since they didn’t sign a lot of players. If they dont sign him now, they will surely regret it”-Man Utd’s stance on signing Paul Pogba revealed after Rio Ferdinand calls for Ruben Amorim to bring former star back to help the club fight

Manchester United’s Stance on Paul Pogba Revealed After Rio Ferdinand’s Call for Return
Manchester United’s position on re-signing Paul Pogba has been clarified after club legend Rio Ferdinand publicly urged Rúben Amorim to bring the Frenchman back to Old Trafford.

Pogba’s Current Situation
At 31 years old, Pogba is actively searching for a new club as he looks to reignite his career following a lengthy ban. The World Cup-winning midfielder was initially handed a four-year suspension after testing positive for DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone)—a compound that boosts hormone production, including testosterone. However, his ban was later reduced to 18 months, making him eligible to return to action in March 2025.

With Juventus terminating his contract in November, Pogba is now a free agent, attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer (MLS), and even the Premier League.

Rio Ferdinand Advocates for Pogba’s Return
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has openly supported the idea of bringing Pogba back to Old Trafford. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand suggested that United should allow Pogba to train with the squad and assess his fitness before making a final decision:

“Pogba at United? I’d say come in and train with us and let’s see what you’ve got. I’d do that. I would’ve done that already. Get fit and let’s have a little look.”

Manchester United’s Official Stance
Despite Ferdinand’s comments, Manchester United has no plans to offer Pogba a third spell at the club. According to The Athletic, while Pogba’s representatives maintain a good relationship with United’s technical director Jason Wilcox, there have been no discussions about a potential return.

The report stated:

“Though those representing Pogba have a good relationship with Wilcox from his time at Manchester City’s academy, there were no talks about a third spell at Old Trafford. Pogba has been concentrating on getting fit on his own terms before his suspension is finished in March.”

Could Pogba Still Return to the Premier League?
While United may not be interested, former Red Devils striker Louis Saha believes Pogba could still be an appealing option for other Premier League clubs, especially given his free agent status. Speaking in December, Saha said:

“When I look at Pogba, I think that many teams in the Premier League would find signing him as a free agent an attractive proposition. Forget about the salary—I’m sure Paul is ready to find a compromise on that as he wants to play football again after such a long time on the sidelines.”

What’s Next for Pogba?
With his suspension nearing its end, Pogba’s next move remains uncertain. While a Manchester United reunion appears off the table, interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, MLS, and Europe means the Frenchman could still have several options when he returns to competitive football.
It’s not surprising that Manchester United has no interest in bringing Paul Pogba back, especially with their focus on restructuring the squad under Rúben Amorim and Dan Ashworth. Pogba’s injury history, inconsistency, and the baggage from his last stint at Old Trafford likely make him an unappealing option for United, even on a free transfer.

Rio Ferdinand’s suggestion of letting him train with the squad isn’t entirely unreasonable, as it could have given the club a closer look at his fitness and attitude. However, with United looking to move forward rather than revisit the past, it makes sense that they’re not entertaining the idea.

Do you think Pogba could still thrive in the Premier League, or would a move to Saudi Arabia or MLS suit him better at this stage of his career?
